Ephemeral

Where inspiration comes from

My work draws deep inspiration from tropical landscapes, rendering illustrations that float between the realms of reality and imagination. These visual narratives will sometimes depict an indistinct, otherworldly place—both familiar and elusive—where nature and myth converge. At times, the figures portrayed represent a fictional race of women who possess the ability to alter their genetic makeup and merge with the natural world, embodying a dynamic interplay between humanity and environment.

Though the figures are not based on individuals I have encountered, they emerge from a collective visual memory—shaped by global folklore, ancestral stories, and the shared iconography of diverse cultures. Their presence is at once recognizable and enigmatic, inviting viewers to project their own associations and interpretations, while confronting broader questions of identity, representation, and belonging.

Themes of movement, displacement, perception, and transformation thread consistently throughout the work. Conceptually rigorous yet visually restrained, each piece integrates a multitude of cultural references, unified by a sense of simplicity that conceals the complexity within.
